Stector teams have four roles — Owner, Admin, Member, and Viewer — that separate who can act on monitors and incidents from who administers the team itself. This guide covers what each role can do and how to manage membership.
Every team member has exactly one role. Owners can do everything, Admins handle team administration and take responsibility for closing incidents, Members do the day-to-day monitoring work, and Viewers have read-only access to everything.
Owner has full control over the team, including everything an Admin can do, plus deleting the team — the only role that can.
Admin manages team settings, invites and removes members, closes incidents, and can delete monitors.
Member creates and edits monitors and posts updates on incidents, but can't close an incident, manage team membership, or delete the team.
Viewer has read-only access to everything the team can see, but can't create, edit, delete, or manage anything.
From /dashboard/settings, fill in the invitee's Email address and choose a Role — Member or Admin. Click Send invitation. The invitation expires after 7 days, and inviting the same email address again while a prior invitation is still pending is blocked. A pending invitation can be withdrawn with its Revoke button.
From /dashboard/settings, only Owners can change another member's role, using the dropdown next to their name. You can set a member to Admin, Member, or Viewer. Owner isn't one of the dropdown's options, and an Owner's row always shows a fixed "Owner" badge instead of a dropdown — role changes and ownership transfer are two separate, deliberate actions. See Transferring ownership to hand off ownership of the team. If your team has only one Owner, that Owner's role can't be changed until a second Owner exists.
From /dashboard/settings, only the Owner sees a Transfer ownership button, in a section between Pending Invitations and Danger Zone — it's hidden entirely if you're the only member of your team. Clicking it opens a dialog: pick the new owner from the list of existing members, type the team's name to confirm, then click the dialog's own Transfer ownership button to submit. Once confirmed, the member you selected becomes Owner and you're automatically demoted to Admin. This is a separate constraint from the one-Owner rule above: that rule blocks changing a lone Owner's role at all, while this is how you hand ownership to someone else instead.
From the members list on /dashboard/settings, use the Remove button next to a member. Stector won't let you remove a team's last remaining Owner — every team needs at least one.
